About SignWorks Forest Hill

Like most businesses out there, the story behind SignWorks is a crazy mix of luck (both bad and good), timing, and good old-fashioned hard work. We’ve seen great times and tough times, and have had the occasion to work with many wonderful clients and co-workers.

Our fearless leader, who was dubbed “The Sign Nerd” way back in the 1990’s, started working in the sign industry in 1989, just as the dawn of the new vinyl age was hitting the area. He focused mostly on boat graphics back in those days, working on a Gerber Sprint vinyl machine with something like 10 fonts to choose from!

Fast forward to 1998, and The Sign Nerd is now running a multi-unit franchise sign company with locations all around Baltimore and Anne Arundel County. This 6-store network was the largest of its kind at the time.

5 years into it and the opportunity to purchase the chain of stores presents itself, and next thing you know Ole’ Jed has himself 5 sign shops. The shops grew, and the industry entered the digital age, and The Sign Nerd was the first guy in the area to usher in this new wave technology.

Our owner left the franchise network and moved to what is now known as SignWorks Forest Hill. This is a full-service sign shop with over 21 years of practical sign experience. We are family owned and operated, with a staff of dedicated, experienced sign folks whose primary focus is providing our clients with the very best solution to their signage needs.
